Amanda Schaefer, a second-year full-time day student, was selected as the winner of the 36th annual Bainbridge Moot Court Competition held at the Law Center on Wednesday, October 3, in a narrow decision over fellow 2FTD Farrah Faraci, before a packed Auditorium of faculty, students, families and friends. The finals bench was retired Professor Lewis Silverman, Presiding Judge; Elena Karabatos, President of the Nassau County Bar Association; Justin Block, President of the Suffolk County Bar Association; Evan Krinick, Managing Partner at Rivkin, Radler LLP; and Joseph Dell, Dell & Dean. At the end of the competition, the Judge George C. Pratt Award for contributions to Moot Court was presented to Professor Heather Melniker. In the competition, named for former Law Center Dean John S. Bainbridge, 2Ls write brief and participate in oral arguments before panels of judges and lawyers. Successful competitors are invited to join the Moot Court Board, the Law Center’s elite interschool appellate advocacy team.
